Surf Camp
The Surf Camp offers comfortable accommodation for up to 20 surfers in
brand new beachfront cabins, built purposely for surfers in the style
of a Caribbean village, with brightly coloured cabins. Accommodation options
range from Beachfront Deluxe Apartments to Shared Cabins and Sheltered
Hammocks.
The Camp has no restaurant, but there are plenty of dining venues within
walking distance and all cabins have cooking facilities and utensils.
The sheltered hammocks can make use of the free Community Kitchen, a fully
equipped kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, stove, cooking and eating
utensils.
Surf School
Santa Teresa Surf Camp's surf instructors are experts in teaching everything
you need to know about surfing, from simply learning to stand up and ride,
to advanced surfing and competition tactics. They are fluent in English
and have a lifelong knowledge of Costa Rican waves and conditions. They
know all the "secret spots" and wave conditions on any given
day. Most importantly, Santa Teresa Surf Camp instructors keep you safe
and teach you how to avoid stress while maximizing enjoyment.
Surf Spots
Santa Teresa - Mal Pais area on the Nicoya Peninsula has Costa Rica's
most consistent breaks, with normal wave sizes ranging from two to six
feet. Local small wave spots all have perfect surf for learning, with
gentle, well formed waves, minimal currents and amazing scenery. Furthermore,
the water is warm all year round, so you can learn in ideal conditions
and leave your wetsuit at home !
The Spanish School
Santa Teresa Beach Spanish School campus accommodates up to 20 students
in beautiful fully equipped beachfront cabins. The method is "Total
Immersion" in the Spanish language and the school has everything
needed to make your learning experience an unforgettable one. Highly qualified
Spanish teachers will guide you through an excellent learning process
in small classes with no more than four students per group. Upon arrival
students will be tested for their written and oral Spanish skills and
placed in classes according to their conversational level.

DAY 1 | Arrival San Jose
Arrival at San Jose International Airport, followed by ground transfer
to The Hemingway Inn Hotel in San Jose. The Inn is a colonial Spanish
mansion in the best part of San Jose, within walking distance of museums,
restaurants, shopping and nightlife. All guestrooms have comfortable beds,
private bath with hot water shower, daily maid service, cable TV, telephone
with free calls within Costa Rica, clock radio and safety deposit box.
Free computer and 24 hour hi-speed internet access. Double occupancy with

THE LOCATION
Malpais & The Nicoya Peninsula
The Surfcamp is located in Malpais on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, on the Pacific Coast. The southern part of the Peninsula is one of Costa Rica's most secluded gems. From the hilly interior the mountains sweep down to the Pacific Ocean, creating some of the most beautiful and solitary beaches of Costa Rica. The Gulf of Nicoya which separates the Nicoya Peninsula from the mainland of Costa Rica is a stunning marine and coastal landscape of wetlands, jagged rocky islands and cliffs, extensive mangrove habitat, and high biodiversity.
During the past few years Malpais has become a trendy new travel destination in Costa Rica, attracting surfers and beach lovers to its great waves, wide sandy beaches and dramatic sunsets. Formerly a small fishing village, Santa Teresa has grown rapidly, gaining a reputation as an unpretentious surf spot with a sociable surf community, which has attracted the international scene, many who have settled here, contributing to the variety of foods, hotels and lifestyles. On the beach itself, however, you still feel as if you are on a virgin tropical beach, because a broad strip of vegetation and forest hides the construction along the road from view.
Climate
The Nicoya Peninsula experiences two extremely different seasons: the dry season begins at the end of November and until May the sun drenches the land. The first rainfalls to relieve the dry season occur in May at the start of the rainy season. Rainfall increases during the following months to become very heavy from September to November, when the peninsula turns into a dripping lush rainforest.
