KADAVU private island surf resort

This South Pacific archipelago comprises over 300 islands and atolls, the two major ones being Viti and Vanua Leva, both of volcanic origins and with several peaks exceeding 3000 feet. One of the hundreds atolls forming the outer archipelago has been turned into a dreamlike island surf resort, with its own private surfing reef, sheltered lagoon and picturesque traditional bungalows poised over the water. Boats will take you daily to world class breaks for some memorable surf sessions. Back to the resort, you will enjoy its true surfing atmosphere while having a couple of drinks before a nice dinner and a good night sleep, lulled by the surf breaking over the nearby reef. EL SURF

World class private surf breaks with offshore prevailing winds. Breaks are accessed by boat from the resort, where there is an observation platform to watch the action. The island is blessed with a full spectrum of waves (rights, lefts and towing on the outer reef that curves almost 270º, picking up wind and swell from many different directions.

Surf Spots

The main break is King Kong Left, a long wave with a take off in deep water accessible to the average surfer. Next is King Kong Right, a fast tube for the most advanced rider. Both breaks are dominated by the “King Kong” mountain on the neighbouring Kadavu island, named so after the original movie shot there back in 1935.
Other breaks include Middle Daku, a reef break 60 m. from a sandy beach, and Beginner Daku, a gentle beach break ideal for inexperienced surfers.

THE LOCATION

Fiji Islands
Once know as the Cannibal Isles, because of its ferocious natives, this South Pacific archipelago is now one of Oceania’s most popular destination. First settled by the Polynesians and later colonised by the British, the Fiji Islands were put on the map by Captain William Blight, of “Mutiny on the Bounty” fame. The archipelago comprises over 300 islands and atolls, the two major ones being Viti and Vanua Leva, both of volcanic origins and with several peaks exceeding 3000 feet.

Climate
Tropical, tempered by the prevailing SE Trade Winds. Rainy season from January to March, but the island has minimal rainfall. Water temperature between 24-29º C. Most surfers wear a rash guard for sun protection and wind chill factor.
