The Boat

The elaborate design of the whole boat with its comfortable lounge, its spacious bunks and air conditioning in all cabins means you can’t help but to have a great time on board. The boat can accommodate a maximum of 14 passengers in a communal berth and a double cabin. There are three toilets on board. Killing time after surfing or between sessions is absolutely no problem: simply relax with a good book on the spacious chill deck, or go for a snorkel now and again, or how about some fishing or harpooning? There’s an extensive media centre, so you can listen to music, watch a DVD or go on the play station. Never a dull moment on our boat – that’s a promise!
As far as safety is concerned, the boat is up to state of the art with all necessary safety and navigation technologies, life jackets, two dinghies, GPS, radio, satellite telephone, echolot up to 1000 m, compass, nautical charts etc.
The Team
A former Spanish Surf Pro grew up on the Canary Islands and has literally been surfing all his life. In 2003 he and his son moved to Indonesia where they set out to find the perfect Indo break. After three years’ surfing on the Mentawaii Islands, they are now trying to strike lucky on the West Tenggara Islands, so why don’t you join them?. The crew on the boat is is the Pro’s son, who’s been surfing since he was 14 – he’s the Surfguide-, the experienced Indonesian skipper, who’s been sailing the seas around Indonesia for 20 years, an engineer and a cook.

LOCATION

Bali is an Indonesian island located in the westernmost of the Lesser Sunda Islands, lying between Java to the west and Lombok to the east. It is one of the country's 33 provinces with the provincial capital at Denpasar towards the south of the island. The island is home to the vast majority of Indonesia's small Hindu minority. It is also the largest tourist destination in the country and is renowned for its highly developed arts, including dance, sculpture, painting, leather, metalworking and music.
West Nusa Tenggara is a province in south-central Indonesia. It covers the western portion of the Lesser Sunda Islands, except for Bali. The two largest islands in the province are Lombok in the west and the larger Sumbawa island in the east. Mataram, on Lombok, is the capital and largest city of the province.
Religion
Unlike most of Muslim-majority in Indonesia, about 93% of Bali's population adheres to Balinese Hinduism, formed as a combination of existing local beliefs and Hindu influences from mainland Southeast Asia and South Asia. Minority religions include Islam (5.7%), Christianity (1.4%), and Buddhism (0.6%). These official statistical figures do not include immigrants from other parts of Indonesia.
Language
Balinese and Indonesian are the most widely spoken languages in Bali, and like most Indonesians, the vast majority of Balinese people are bilingual or trilingual. There are several indigenous Balinese languages, but most Balinese can also use the most widely spoken option: modern common Balinese. The usage of different Balinese languages was traditionally determined by the Balinese caste system and by clan membership, but this tradition is diminishing.
English is a common third language (and the primary foreign language) of many Balinese, owing to the requirements of the large tourism industry. Staff working in Bali's tourist centres are often, by necessity, multilingual to some degree, speaking as many as 8 or 9 different languages to an often surprising level of competence.
Climate
Bali has a tropical climate appropriate to its proximity to the equator and year round temperatures averaging 31ºC.
Wet Season: October - April (High Humidity)
Dry Season: May - September (Low Humidity)
The Most rain recorded is from December to February.
A very refreshing cool breeze all day long: June - August.
THE TRIP

Bali Denpasar International Airport (DPS)
Garuda, Singapore, Qantas + major airlines
No need for vaccines. There is no Malaria in Bali. A one month visa is necessary for most countries. Check with your local Indonesian embassy.
By plane
Most visitors will arrive at Denpasar's Ngurah Rai international airport. You can fly to Denpasar from major cities in Indonesia (Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar etc) or from major cities in Asia and Australia.
Note that if you are flying internationally into Ngurah Rai, most nationalities are now required to purchase an Entry Visa (25 USD for 30 days). Few other currencies are accepted so it's a good idea to play safe and have the required dollars on hand. Flying internationally out of Bali you are subject to the airport tax (100,000 Rupiah) which you would need to pay for in Rupiah so save some bills for the trip out. The domestic tax is Rp. 30,000.
ATM machines are available at Airport Departure Lobby which accept Cirrus and Plus cards for withdrawals.
Some hotels organize free transfers from the airport but there are pleanty of other taxis also available. Approximate price for getting from Ngurah Rai to Legian is Rp. 40,000.
Since the second bombing, security at the airport has increased considerably and be prepared for rigorous scrutiny of luggage, including carry on items.
