A one hour drive down the Inter-American Highway from Panama City, San Carlos Surf Camp enjoys a perfect location on the shores of the Gulf of Panama, in the Pacific Ocean. This ten room, family run hotel is seconds away from the beach and surf. The surf school operates on the beach right in front of the hotel, where there is an excellent beach break ideal for beginners. Lessons are all individuals with one student per teacher. If you do not want to take lessons, you can rent a board for the day - there is a wide choice of boards - and surf the three other breaks within walking distance from the hotel. The camp also organises daily guided surf tours to local surf breaks only accessible by 4x4. After a day at the beach, you can rest in a hammock and watch the daily sunset while sipping a piña colada at the beach hut!

Ten room family run hotel 30 seconds from the beach ! Double room on the ground floor and rooms sleeping four on the first floor. All rooms with A/C and private bathroom with hot water. There is also a suite sleeping six with complete kitchen facilities. Complimentary tea/coffee in the morning. Children’s pool, hamacas, video games and TV. Bar service all week but restaurant on weekend only. Beach hut in front of the hotel with cocktails, music and DirectTV.

THE SURF
Surf School
The surf school operates on the beach right in front of the hotel, where there is an excellent beach break.
Individual classes (1/1 student- instructor ratio) for all levels, from beginners to medium and advanced.
Standard unit is 1 hour lesson + 1 hour free surf.
Surf Spots
The beach in front of the camp has four breaks.
El Frente: Beachbreak right and left ideal for beginners.
Point Break: Right at mid/high tide for experienced surfers.
Hawaisito: Left for intermediate to advanced surfers.
Jeffreys: Reef break left at low tide, only for advanced surfers. A regional classic, don’t miss it !

Climate
Tropical. Warm waters all year round. No need for a wetsuit ! Winter swells have an average of 2 to 10 foot. Summer swells between 2 and 8 foot.

THE LOCATION
San Carlos
San Carlos is located two hours south of Panama City, down the Panamerican Highway on the Golf of Panama, on the Pacific Coast and in the province of Panama.
Climate
Tropical climate with dry and wet season. The dry season lasts from December through April, when warm winds blowing offshore 24 hours a day. Surf wise, the waves are smaller but the wind offshore. The dry season last from April to November and is referred to as the winter ! But the air and water temperatures remain tropical. Surf wise, the swell is also much more consistent, showers more frequent and the wind oinshore. No need for wetsuits ! All you need is trunks, warm water wax and sunscreen. Reef shoes are a good idea for coral and rock breaks.
