THE LOCATION

Sines
The surfcamp is located a 5 minute drive from Porto Covo, 12 kilometers south of Sines. Surrounded by large sand beaches and pine groves on the shores of the Atlantic, Porot Covo is part of the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo. Halfway down the Atlantic coast, between Lisbon and the Algarve, Sines is an old fortified town, birthplace of Vasco de Gama. This famous 16th century Portuguese admiral and discoverer sailed to India eastward contouring Africa and the Good Hope Cape, a deed of civilisation fundamental to the Discoveries Age and the Renaissance world. Inhabited since prehistory and self-governed since the 14th century, Sines was mainly a sleepy fishing town turned into a summer resort in the sixties and seventies. Since then and the construction of the new harbour, Sines has become one of the major industrial port in the country and will soon become one of the biggest container hubs in Europe.
Climate
Atlantic/Mediterranean, with mild winters and hot summers.
