Surf Spots
Because of its classic point set-ups, El Salvador surfing does not close out even on the biggest swells. The waves are so lined up and machinelike that it seems a skate park ! El Salvador's 320 km of Pacific coastline is dominated by several world class right-hand point breaks and roughly divided into two surfing zones: La Libertad, south of the capital San Salvador, and the remote East Coast, about three hours drive down the coast.
Main surf spots in La Libertad area:
K59: World class powerful right with great tubes and fast section. It is a private beach only accessible to residents and surfcamp guests.
K61: Right point break 500 m. from K59, with long rides and barrels.
Sunzal: A regional classic and El Salvador’s longest wave. A slow right with a short, hollow section. This wave is always bigger than all other Salvadorian breaks and more consistent.

THE LOCATION
El Salvador
El Salvador is the smallest of the Central American countries, and the most densely populated. Beyond a central plain, the Sierra Madre Mountains cross the land from north to south, with more than 20 volcanoes - some still active. Once an important part of the Mayan culture, El Salvador lands were invaded by the Spanish in the early 1500s. In 1821, El Salvador achieved independence from Spain. For much of the 20th Century, it suffered from decades of military coups. dictatorships and civil wars. The wars, howevee are over and the most turbulent aspect of El Salvador today is its volcanic landscape. Tourism is on the increase as El Salvador is a beautiful country, rich in Spanish traditions.
Climate
Generally hot and humid, with tropical conditions throughout the year. El Salvador has a dry (Nov- April) and a wet (May-October) season . The rainy season, with the occasional afternoon shower, receives the biggest swell. The dry season offers beautiful, sunny offshore conditions and enjoys consistent surf in the 3-6 ft range.
