THE SURF

Surf School
The surf school operates in both Conil and El Palmar, depending on the waves, wind and weather conditions. It is run by BSA & GSF qualified surfing instructors and fully qualified lifeguards. They also speak fluent Spanish, English and German. The school cater for all levels of surf, from beginners to advanced. All equipment is of the highest standard.
Surf Spots
Conil/El Palmar lies within the diversity of the coastline, from mellow or powerful beachbreaks to long walled up reefs and point breaks. The majority of the swell received is ground swell. Normally well ordered and powerful, these swells comes out of nowhere and can build up within a day to four feet and last for weeks on end.
Due to the rugged shape of the coastline, there are several bend and twists ensuring that you will always be able to find a clean wave somewhere. The crowd factor is also a plus here as the coast is still lightly surfed and there is no strong “localism” yet. The lack of crowd - except on weekends - make this region a haven for foreign surfers.

THE LOCATION

Cadiz & The Costa de la Luz
At the heart of the Costa de la Luz, Conil lies within a short distance of the ancient Andalusian towns of Vejer, Tarifa, Cadiz and Jerez. The close proximity of Morocco across the straits of Gibraltar provides impressive views of the North African shoreline on clear days. With several protected pine forests, construction kept down to a minimum and the area sparsely populated, the coast is incredibly tranquil and beaches uncrowded and immaculate.
Cadiz is one of Spain's most typical and authentic province. Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Mediterranean to the east, the region is rich in cultural, natural and artistic treasures. The capital Cadiz is arguably the oldest town in Europe, founded in 1200 BC by the Phoenician on a narrow isthmus surrounded by ancient walls. Inland, the town of Jerez is reputed worldwide for its Sherry wine, its famed Andalusian School of Equestrian Art and its race track, annual venue of the Moto Grand Prix.
Climate
Southern Atlantic, with mild winters and hot summers.
