El Palmar Surfcamp offers you the chance to enjoy a fantastic holiday in Andalusia, renowned around the world for its amazing culture, its wonderfull climate and its unbelievable Spanish beaches ! This Surfcamp provide private accomodation close by the beach of “El Palmar”, which is the best place to surf in the South of Spain. Its fine sand and its transparent waters surrounded by a natural environment make this beach one of the very few unexplioted shores in the area. Overmore, it is very lightly surfed. Which means minimal crowds!

The Surfcourses are held in groups of no more than 5 persons per instructor, garanteeing that each student learns whilst having fun without being left behind.

CAMP

Accommodation:

The Camp offers you 3 types of accommodation; hostel, private bungalows and appartments. All of them are fully equiped and a short walking distance from the beach (1 km).

- The Hostel offers a private room with bathroom, TV and includes breackfast with coffee, tea and toast.

- The private Bungalows can accomodate from 2 to 3 persons and are provided with porch, TV, washing machine, fully equiped kitchen, a double room and the possibility to add an extra bed.

- The Appartments are fully equiped with a porch, TV, washing machine, full equiped kitchen and have 1 or 2 double rooms. They can accommodate from 2 to 4 persons.

THE SURF

The Beach:
“El Palmar” Beach is located at 5km from Conil de la frontera and 9 km from Vejer de la frontera in Cadiz.
Its fine sand and its transparent waters surrounded by a natural environment make this beach one of the very few unexplioted shores in the area.
This beach offers a virtually unknown landscape, ideal for the practice of surfing all the year around.
Thanks to its Western orientation, El Palmar is the beach that generates the most waves in all of Andalucia. El Palmar has warm cristal clear waters and a smooth, sandy seabed making it a perfect haven for Surfers.

The best time to Surf in El Palmar is from September to May. From May to August the waves seem to be less frequent.

The ambients average temperature all year round is around 25º Celsius, and the waters temperature is around 17ºc in Winter and 23ºc in Sumer.

The Surfschool
The Surfschool realises that in large groups only a few learn, that’s why the Surfcourses are held in groups of no more than 5 persons per instructor, garanteeing that each student learns whilst having fun without being left behind. The School provides individual Surfing tuition designed for each students evolution. The Instructors teaching methods have been succesful for over 1000 students.

They also have Civil Responsibility Insurance and all up to date paperwork for Insurances, Registrations and Instructor and Lifeguard Diplomas that they can show you if it is of interest.

15 Hour Surfcourse
The 15 hour Surfcourse is the most complete in El Palmar. The course lasts 3 hours per day spread over 5 days. The course covers all subjets such as what guidelines to follow, what waves to catch, tipes of waves, meteorology, favorable and unfavorable currents, security, types of material, video guiding and advice on your future material selection.

After the Course you will be given a free Surfing Manual and your Surfing Federation Certificate. Also, if there is time they will video record one of your Surf sessions in the water and afterwards view it in the classroom and coment on your skills. The School sees this as a good way to learn from the mistakes made, if any.

Shaping and Repair Workshop
El Palmar Surfcamp has a Workshop where Surfboards are made and repaired that you can visit. You can see all the diferent materials and techniques used to make the boards. You can also learn how to make your own basic repairs in the future.

Extra Activities
There are other activities at good prices for all those students that would like to take part.
The extra activities are:

THE LOCATION

Cadiz & The Costa de la Luz
At the heart of the Costa de la Luz, Conil lies within a short distance of the ancient Andalusian towns of Vejer, Tarifa, Cadiz and Jerez. The close proximity of Morocco across the straits of Gibraltar provides impressive views of the North African shoreline on clear days. With several protected pine forests, construction kept down to a minimum and the area sparsely populated, the coast is incredibly tranquil and beaches uncrowded and immaculate.
Cadiz is one of Spain's most typical and authentic province. Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Mediterranean to the east, the region is rich in cultural, natural and artistic treasures. The capital Cadiz is arguably the oldest town in Europe, founded in 1200 BC by the Phoenician on a narrow isthmus surrounded by ancient walls. Inland, the town of Jerez is reputed worldwide for its Sherry wine, its famed Andalusian School of Equestrian Art and its race track, annual venue of the Moto Grand Prix.
