The Location

The Location

Dakar, Senegal
Cool and peaceful atmosphere on the island. A few restaurants with local specialities, bars to hang out and beaches to laze out in the sun when not surfing. The mainland is connected day and night by shuttle boats, so it is always easy to go to and get back from Dakar, the country capital. Senegal is one of the most stable democracy in Africa and is the cradle of internationally renown musicians such as Youssouf N’Dour - Peter Gabriel is a regular visitor here in search of new World Music talents. The capital, Dakar, is the busiest port in Western Africa and main stopping point for flights between Europe and South America.

Climate
The climate is tropical, the water warm and the weather dry most of the year, except for the odd showers in summer (July, August and September). The dry season is dominated by the hot Harmattan wind. Water temperatures: 18º in winter + 26º rest of the year.

Just returned from a week at n'gor surf camp. It was everything we hoped for: great waves every day, great accommodation (pictures on this site are outdated, the new facilities are way nicer!), and super relaxed atmosphere. Jesper and his crew of instructors/guides were super helpful, and just really nice people to hang out with. We'll be back for sure!

Guys I recently returned from a 12 day stay at the N’Gor Surf Lodge in Senegal which I booked through you. I had an excellent time and I would recommend this trip to anyone. The set up is great, it is literally a 2 minute walk from the camp to the sheltered N’Gor right and about the same distance to N’Gor left at the other end of the island. That gives some indication of the size of the island, its small, relaxed, just easy really but you can get to the mainland by the constantly running ferries within 5 minutes. Airport pick ups etc all went very smoothly. Away from surfing there is top class fishing and I enjoyed a great day scuba diving too.

The camp itself is extremely laid back, the rooms are cleaned everyday and the food was good but the best thing about it is the host Phillipe. He surfed with us everyday and was probably the most enthusiastic guy in the line up. The guy makes everyone feel like they’re at home and this is supported by the level of return custom he receives. He is French but speaks perfect English and is happy to do so non French speakers don’t have to worry. He also took the time out to take me over to and guide me around Dakar, help me arrange a dive trip and generally deal with all my/guests needs. Your clients are in good hands with this guy.

All in all I had great trip.

Thanks

Matt

We just got back from the surftrip on N'gor island, Dakar. Apart from the fact that we had incredible waves there, I would like to tell you that you have a brilliant camp there. The main guy Philippe, he is an extraordinary guy who takes very good care of his guests. We had great organized surfari's and good accomodation. The best diners and good breakfasts. Philippe is always positive and his buddy Ibrahim is a very nice guy and a hard working assistant.

I just wanted to let you know we had the best time ever over there.

Greetings Allard Jaspars,

The Netherlands.
