Lagide Baleal Surfcamp is a brand new surf camp located at 50 meters from Baleal - Peniche, a surfer's paradise famous for the diversity of its numerous Surf spots and its amazing nightlife. It’s two Surfhouses are perfectly and strategically placed at 20 meters in front of the ocean and the surfspots. It’s front yard is one of the best reefbreaks in Portugal, Lagido. All the rooms have a direct view of the ocean, and you can even check several surfspots from your window.

The Surfcamp offers courses for beginners and advanced surfers with a maximum of 6 persons per instructor (unlike other Surfschools...), accommodation and Surf guided tours for experienced surfers wishing to discover the numerous spots in the area. If you prefer to be independent you can also choose the option Accommodation only. Watch the morning Surf while you're preparing a delicious breakfast... Put your wetsuit on and go directly to Surf from your house !!!

The Camp

The Surfcamp consists of two spacious Surf houses, both situated directly in front of the ocean: the Big House and the Small House.
The Big House can accommodate 15 persons while the the capacity of the Small house is of 9 persons.
You can choose between three double rooms, three triple rooms and two quadruple rooms. All these rooms are very spacious, comfortable, fully equiped and have view to the beach.
 
Each house has a kitchen where guests can prepare their meals. The big house has two bathrooms and the small house has one. There are also outside showers that guests can use after surfing.

The Surf

A surfers' paradise! Peniche is a small peninsula where you will always find the right beach with a light offshore wind creating hollow waves, regardless of the wind direction. Along a fifteen kilometre stretch of coast, there are more than 20 breaks for surfers of all levels. Here is a fast description of some of them

SURF SPOTS

Praia do Baleal:
Beach with multiple peaks.
Mixed spots with rocks and sand Ideal for intermediate surfers.
During summer this beach is exclusive for swimmers (no Surfing)
Swell direction: West and North
Wind: South

Lagido:
Shallow reef break that provides powerful lefts and mellow rights.
Swell direction: West and North.
Wind: South

Almagreira:
Beach with multiple peaks.
Sand bars and mixed spots with rocks / sand
Swell direction: All
Wind: South & East

Cantinho da Baia:
Sand bar that provides long lefts and rights.
Very consistent and ideal for beginners.
Swell direction: North and west
Wind: North and East

Meio da Baia:
Very long beach with multiple sandbars.
Perfect waves without crowds just ten minutes away from the Surfcamp (walking distance)
Swell direction: All
Wind: East South

Peniche Norte:
Multiple reef breaks. Small and medium swells from west and north. This area is considered dangerous for unexperienced surfers. Access is difficult and the reefs are packed with sea urchins.
Swell direction: West and North
Wind: South

Supertubos:
World famous break known for its perfectly tubular waves. This spot is famous for its lefts but also provides epic rights. It's a very difficult and powerful wave that suits experienced surfers. Supertubos was acknowledged by Surfer Mag as being one of the best waves in the world.
Swell direction: SouthWest
Wind: Northea

Molhe Leste:
Tubular right wave that breaks close to a pier.
This wave works when Supertubos is too big.
Swell direction: North and west
Wind: Northeast

Consolaçao:
Rocky bay with long rights. The wave has a smooth beginning but usualy ends with a powerful inside section. The access is difficult and some of the reefs are covered with sea urchins.
Swell direction: Southwest and West
Wind: North and Eastst

Baleal - Peniche

Peniche
Eighty kilometres north of Lisbon, Peniche is one of Portugal's busiest fishing harbour. An island until the 12th Century, it is now connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway bordered by wide sandy beaches. Its "Fortaleza" was one of the country's most notorious jails, now an impressive monument against fascism. The town has been a magnet for surfers for at least a decade, due to the large variety of spots working in different conditions and all within a fifteen kilometres radius. North swells can be breathtaking on the northern beaches while in South swells or northern winds, the southern beaches offer powerful waves, such as the famous "Supertubos" perfect tube. Northwards of Peniche, the crowd thins out substantially.

Costa da Prata
The region of Peniche and Costa da Prata (Silver Coast) is famous for its miles long pristine beaches and the Berlanga Islands, a tiny rocky archipelago listed as a natural reserve and a favourite destination for divers - in season, daily ferries take visitors from Peniche to the main island. Also well worth a visit is the nearby walled town of Obidos.

This perfectly preserved mediaeval town is a maze of narrow cobbled streets and small squares lined by churches and lovely whitewashed houses with flower bedecked windows. The town was a leading merchant harbour until the 16th century, when river access to the sea was silted up. Obidos lost importance and its development was halted, the town remaining pretty much the same ever since. Today, the tranquil waters of the Obidos (Arelho) lagoon has become a favourite spot for windsurfers and its river mouth a reputed surf spot.
