Praia das Maças Surfcamp is located a few kilometers from Lisbon, in a small village encircled by the cheerfull nature of Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. The hotel is withing walking distance of the train station, bars, restaurants, shops, Praia Grande and Praia Pequeña beaches, where all the surfing action takes place and offering high quality waves all year!
Learn to surf in Praia das Maças, a beachbreak suitable for all surfers (Beginners, Intermediates and Advanced).
The Camp
The camp is in the village centre, just 30 metres from the beach, where you will find nearby restaurants, bars, clubs and a supermarket.The accommodation consists of hotel rooms, each sleeping from 1 - 3 persons, some with beachview, some with view to Serra de Sintra. Each room has its own bathroom, central heating, phone and T.V to watch the Soccer World Championships.
At the hotel’s entrance you will find a bus and train stop, and a few metres away a tennis court, football field, and praia das Magas swimming pools. All you need for an unbeatable holiday!
The Surf
Surf Courses
There are three, five or seven day Surfcourses for all level surfers, from beginners to highly experienced. Surfcourses consist of two daily lessons, each one lasting one hour and thirty minutes, one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. The surf instructors will even let you use the surfboards in between lessons to practice. On the weekends it is free surf dupervised by the instructors.
All the Surf material is included: board, suit, leash, etc.
Surfing for Beginners
This is where you will learn all the basics for Surfing: Safety, water entrance, positioning, swell directions, equipment, phisical preparation and surfing techniques.
Beginners Surfcourse includes:
• Five surfers per instructor
• Age divided groups
• Full Supervision whilst in the water
• All material suited for your level
Advanced Training
For surfers who want to gain those extra skills there is advanced training provided. This includes learning a bit more about the equipment, and which to choose, learning new skills and how to read a wave, and adding some style on your surf! The Surf coach is Tinga, an ex-professional Brazilian surfer and experienced Surf coach that has coached the top Portuguese Grommets like Nicolau Von Rupp.
The training will be analysed and filmed.
The Staff
All surf instructors are fully qualified with the Portuguese Surfing Federation. They will share all their knowledge and use their experience to teach you all they know about surfing in a passionate and profesional manner.
The Spot
Praia das Maças: Powerful beach break, right and left. Sandy bottom with rocks. Start working with 3 ft. and holds up to 6 ft. Works at all tides In the last folds of the Sintra Range, Praia das Maças has two surfspots, Praia Grande (Big Beach) and Praia Pequenha (Small Beach). Both offer excellent and steady waves during the whole year and being beach breaks, they offer perfect conditions of surf for all levels, in particular beginners.

Praia das Maças
The camp is in the village centre, just 30 meters from the beach, where you will find nearby restaurants, bars, clubs and a supermarket.There are many great beaches for surfing around Lisbon. If you are looking for different waves then you can easily walk from the Surfcamp to Praia Grande and Praia Pequeña, and if you travel a little further north or south you will find Ericeira or Guincho, and the beautifull Estoril Coast beaches. You will allways come across a pumping surfspot.
You can go sightseeing in Sintra’s many beautifull tracks, or take the mini train just outside the Surfcamp that will take you to the city centre!
You can get a bus, train or taxi and go to Lisbon to party. There are many good night clubs, museums, and plenty of things to visit in downtown Lisbon.
