For a couple of decades now, Lanzarote has been one of the hottest surf spots in Europe to find powerful and consistent surf. The subtropical climate and warm waters make Lanzarote a perfect destination all year long. 

Famara Surfcamp offers everything for the Surfer; Surfaris for those with experience, Surf lessons for those who wish to learn this beautifull sport and Kitesurf lessons for the more adventureous. The Surfcamp also has a variety of accommodation to choose from, with some RIGHT ON THE BEACH!!!; Bungalows, Apartments and Studio Apartments... You decide!

The Surfcamp is managed by a local surfer with more than 30 years of experience surfing in Lanzarote ! He knows perfectly every spot on the island, and will inform you about all the best places you can visit during your stay.

The Surf Camp

Apartment, Bungalow and Studio-Apartment.

The Apartments are located in the beautiful fisherman village of Caleta de Famara, just a few minutes walk to the beach. The bungalows and studios are situated directly on the beach where the Surf and Kitesurf courses take place. They are all fully furnished, with kitchen, bathroom and lounge. Some of them have even their own garden with barbecue and a beautifull seaview.

Apartments: 1 and 2 bedroom apartments with capacity of 2 - 5 persons (with the addition of a fold out bed, or on sofa).

Bungalows: 2 and 3 bedroom Bungalows with capacity of 4 - 7 persons (with the addition of a fold out bed, or on sofa).

Studio: Maximum capacity of 2 persons.

Services: Clean linen and towels are provided on a weekly basis. All guests are responsible for the cleanliness of the accommodation. If guests have any special requests the Camp will gladly consider them at an extra cost.

Surfshop

Famara Surfcamp is provided with his own Surfshop where you can enjoy of the following services :

The Surf

Lanzarote and the Canary Isles are Europe's winter surfing ground, a mere two hour flight from Madrid and the mainland and just a bit longer from major European capitals. Northern swells can produce good waves in summer, although it is the north and western winter swells that have built Lanzarote's reputation amongst the surfing community worldwide.

Famara Beach
The beach seems to have a never ending amount of swell hitting it and its truly on of the most consistent beaches in the Atlantic. The beach is all golden sand, flat and ideal for surfing progression with waves to suit all Surf levels. With year round waves and warm water Lanzarote is the ideal surf camp venue. A short flight from most European countries you may very well find that this is not your last visit to Lanzarote.
 
Surf Courses
The Surfcourse begins at 10:00 in the morning, any day of the week. This is when the material will be handed out (Surfboard and Wetsuit). After the material handout you will be taken to the beaches where you will begin some short theory about the Surf and Safety. After this comes the warm up to prevent muscular injuries and then the practice with a picnic in between (Sandwich and drink). The lessons end at 14:00 hours, but if you like, and with the instructors “ok” you can keep hold of the material and carry on practicing and just take it back when you finish.

Kitesurf Courses
The Kitesurf courses take place on Famara Beach (6 kilometres of sandy beach).
Kitesurf is an easy to learn sport. With the help of our FKI instructors you will learn rapidly and with total security. At the end of the course, participants will be self-sufficient and capable of navigating by themselves and they will have learned all the basics on not only self safety, but safety for others too. Incase the conditions for Kitesurf are not suitable, you will have the chance to exchange the Kitesurf courses for Surf Lessons.

The Surfcamp has the latest Cabrinha Kites and Surftech Boards. All material, Wetties, Jackets and Helmets are included.

Material rental is available for those who do not want the hassle of the extra baggage and costs from bringing their own gear from home.

The course timetable varies from the wind and tide conditions. This will be notified with one days notice. Uppon arrival you will receive a welcome cocktail and a brief explanation of the daily activities.

Canary Islands

Known as the ”Fortunate Islands”, the Canary Islands enjoy a permanent spring like, subtropical climate cooled by the Ocean breeze and the Trade Winds, with warm waters and consistent swell most of the year. Off the coast of Morocco, Spanish territory and outpost of the European Union, the Canary Islands are but a two hour flight from Madrid and the mainland. The "Hawaii of the Atlantic", as the islands are referred to by surfers, this volcanic archipelago is formed by seven islands. Main surf destinations are the two major islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, and the less populated islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. 

Lanzarote

The easternmost island of the Canarian archipelago, Lanzarote is a spectacular combination of fire and water, with volcanos and black lava rock doted with whitewashed houses dominating a landscape from another planet of phantasmagorically, almost lunar beauty. The entire island has been declared as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and hosts the Timanfaya National Park, a spectacular volcanic landscape formed by two recent eruptions of the 18th. and 19th. centuries. Lanzarote is also an example of sustainable tourism with a complete integration with the environment, in great part due to Cesar Manrique, an artist and architect who was committed in rediscovering the beauty of the landscape and the culture of Lanzarote and convinced the islanders to do so as well.
