The Surfcamp is located right on the famous urban and surf beach of La Cicer, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Accommodation is comprised of modern apartments overlooking the beach. Surf and Bodyboard tuition is offered everyday of the year on the beach in front of the surfhouse, one of the best on the island for the practice of surf. Gran Canaria Surfcamp offers a surf progamme fit for the necesities of all surfers, from the complete beginner to the initiated who wants to improve his technique. For the seasoned surfers, guided surf tours are organized to the best spots of the island.

The Surf Camp

The Surfhouse, Surfshop and Surf School are located right in front of the famous urban beach of Las Canteras, a three kilometres long sandy beach in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the island's capital. 

The accommodation is formed by modern two-room appartments, totally equipped with kitchen, TV and DVD players. All appartments have ocean views and can be either shared of private (see price table).

The surfcamp is ideally located within walking distance of the town centre and its animated day and night life, so that you can enjoy the best of both world: surf and tourism.

The Surf

Gran Canaria has great places to surf, a good year-round climate and a vast number of beaches along its coastline, mainly on the North Coast. The Island’s waves are ‘powerful’ because the swell reaches the coastline from a great depth. The Archipelago coast does not have a continental platform and therefore the waves break with more energy. Furthermore, the coastal soil is mainly volcanic which limit great sand movements and the waves remain stable at the same point.

Surf School

Gran Canaria Surf School offers different programs of surfing adjusted to the necessity of those who are just starting and those who want to improve their technique and level of surfing. The coaches are all titled by the Spanish Surf Federation. Surf and bodyboard Lessons  are held every day on the beach in front of the surfhouse from 10:30 to 16:30 hrs.

Surfaris

For the seasoned surfers, the camp offers daily guided tours to the best spots of the island. Gran Canaria can provide you with all types of waves, starting with the famous “Confital right” and "Lloret", right in the capital of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The Island’s north coast, extending west of Las Palmas, is another haven for surfers, with and unbelievable amount of high quality surf spots on a stretch of coast extending from the capital to San Felipe, Galdar and San Nicolas.

The Location

Canary Islands

Known as the ”Fortunate Islands”, the Canary Islands enjoy a permanent spring like, subtropical climate cooled by the Ocean breeze and the Trade Winds, with warm waters and consistent swell most of the year. Off the coast of Morocco, Spanish territory and outpost of the European Union, the Canary Islands are but a two hour flight from Madrid and the mainland. The "Hawaii of the Atlantic", as the islands are referred to by surfers, this volcanic archipelago is formed by seven islands. Main surf destinations are the two major islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, and the less populated islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.

Gran Canaria Island

Gran Canaria is the most populated island of the archipelago’s seven islands. A continent in miniature, the variety of the landscape range from the desert like south to the green and fertile banana hillside plantations of the north, from the pine groves and black volcanic peaks of the centre to huge sand beaches and high cliffs plunging into the ocean. 

The capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is an important port on the Atlantic trade routes with a lively atmosphere and has a thriving cultural life - it is reputed for its carnival ! The oldest quarter of Vegueta, listed as a Unesco World Heritage site, is both atmospheric and fashionable - many of the best bars and restaurants are located here.
